By appropriate preservation of the records of the Congregation, the Archives also contributes to:

the history of the Church in the United States, especially in those dioceses in which the Sisters of Charity serve or have served
-
the history of women religious in the United States
-
the history of the Church in other countries where the Sisters of Charity serve or have served (Korea, China, Israel, et al.)
-
local history in the State of Pennsylvania, where the mother house of the Congregation is located, and in other places where Sisters of Charity reside and serve
